The Mill Trust has established a number of standing orders that apply to operations at the mill. The list includes the following, (Board meeting dates when decision was passed to be added later).

• No mill tour on an open day or group visit will include more than 10 people, plus the tour guide.
• There will be a Step Controller guarding the steps at all public open days.
• The mill can only be operated with sails only turning by someone trained, qualified and certified by the Board as an Assistant Miller or Senior Miller.
• The mill can only be operated with machinery engaged by someone trained, qualified and certified by the Board as a Senior Miller.
• Sails can only be climbed by volunteers who have been trained to use the new sail climbing safety equipment and authorised to climb sails by the Board.
