Hazel Marsden

From High Salvington Mill Trust

Hazel Marsden graduated in mathematics from Cambridge University. She trained as a teacher before moving into the nascent IT industry as a computer programmer, working on:

  • control systems (e.g. power stations, steel mills, oil rigs) with Eurotherm;
  • air traffic control training simulators with Raytheon, including over six months in Vancouver training their Canadian staff to take over managing the software once the Burgess Hill office was closed down;
  • air traffic control statistics and modelling with NATS;
  • genome sequencing software for EMBL - European Molecular Biology Lab.

Hazel started volunteering at the windmill in 2006 as a guide, before taking over the role of Guide Organiser from Jackie Day. In 2012 she succeeded Bob Potts as Treasurer. She has also qualified as a Miller and is responsible for managing Gatekeepers. Hazel has been a director and trustee of High Salvington Mill Trust Limited since 8th June 2012.
