Craft Sunday

The Origin of Craft Sunday at High Salvington Mill

Adapted from source material supplied by Betty Potts (9/8/2019).

Shirley Ashton, Pat Casebow, Dorothy Edney, Betty Potts, and, Yvonne Welch were the founders of Craft Sunday.

It all started in a dining room. The wives of the millers met each Thursday evening while their husbands carried on with the work of restoring at the mill in summer or winter.

We made small items from material - lavender bags, purses, etc, and knitted scarves, gloves and socks, etc. All ready to be sold at the annual Summer Fete in July, together with donated necklaces and brooches.

The first Craft Table was in 1989 and the takings amounted to £75.79.
