Indian Bean Tree

The Indian Bean Tree (Catalpa bignonioides) between the mill and electrical box was a favourite of the town architect at the time it was planted and he had this species planted in many places in Worthing, including here at High Salvington Windmill and at Durrington High School outside the old workshops and science labs.

The tree is under a Tree Preservation Order. It typically flowers in mid-July.
