Gatehouse Conversion

From High Salvington Mill Trust

From the minutes of the board meeting on 28th April 2008, "The Secretary reported that the Trust had received an invitation to a Mayoral drinks reception which was attended by a dozen volunteers. Mayor Heather Mercer had presented the Trust with a cheque for £1,000 from the Mayors' Fund, towards our refurbishment of the Gate House as a Visitor Information Centre. The following Thursday, Cllr. Jacqui Marsh attended the Millwrights' session and awarded a further £1,000 from her ward budget. A few weeks later, on our first open day of the season, Cllr. Noel Atkins attended, and beside the winning snowman in our “Build a Snowman” Competition, he also awarded the Mill Trust £1,000 towards the Visitor Centre. The Secretary had written letters of thanks to all three Councillors and the Directors added their thanks."
